RICHARD GOWER (b.1962)
Richard Gower expressively uses oil paint to show the transient moments of strangers' daily lives. The semi-abstracted, figurative compositions have a sense of serenity and intrigue, quietly inviting the viewer to create narratives about the anonymous characters unknowingly immortalised on canvas.
Gower takes inspiration from Modern Masters such as Sickert and Monet, to Picasso and Bacon, which have enabled him to progress in to his distinctive 'Reflections' series.
“My 'Reflections' capture a moment… a snapshot of people... whoever they are and whatever they do…a sort of ‘people watching' ”
The artist is well known for his public and private commissions, which include esteemed clients such as the Lord Mayor of Westminster.
